KATY OCKER
LEARNING DESIGNER | PROJECT MANAGER | CREATIVE
I am a creative at heart with a passion for teaching and learning. I truly believe that anyone and everyone can learn. It requires hard work and dedication from you as a person, but with the right learning experiences and facilitators anyone really can learn.
I started my adventure into teaching and learning in a music classroom and eventually found myself leading a very successful High School Music department. In my 11 years of teaching I was able to hone another powerful skill, that of project management. Whether it was managing the auditions for the ensembles I conducted, directing the school plays, or planning and chaperoning school tours, I was able to find a management style that worked for me and ensured a successful delivery.
I changed my focus from child centred learning to adult education in 2020 and began my new adventure as a Google Certified trainer. My focus here was to empower education and business professionals alike with skills to innovate the way they work.
My creative abilities and teaching experience soon saw me designing learning journeys and experiences, while my management skills allowed me the opportunity to lead a team of freelance facilitators who deliver these sessions. I have managed many successful projects in my new career that include the deployment of Google Workspace and training to schools around South Africa.
This portfolio showcases some of the projects I have managed, learning experiences I have designed, and other skills and interests I have.
