Project SIFT

Project SIFT was a project initiated by the Google Next Billion users team and the United Nations Development Fund.

Together these teams planned to empower teachers and learners throughout South Africa and help to improve education in the disadvantaged areas of the country.

Phase 1 was launched in December 2020 and was completed in July 2021. This phase focused on 32 schools in the Western Cape. Working with an ISP in South Africa internet access was installed into the schools. Opennetworks then deployed Google Workspace for Education and conducted staff training.

As part of this project I was in charge of managing the training schedule for this deployment once again. This involved scheduling the training dates over the course of July, finding and booking facilitators from my team to conduct the training. We successfully delivered 36 sessions to the staff of these schools to help them gain insight into how these tools could help them streamline their teaching and learning.

We also delivered Admin Console training to the Super Admins of each school through an in depth course that has been created to cover the fundamentals of managing their schools Admin Consoles.

These training sessions were tracked, scheduled and managed through Google Sheets. A wonderful tool to help me see which school was being trained when and to ensure that trainers were booked well in advance, and all communication was sent to the attendees in time.
